Re-Bound Rubber Chippings is a soft, colourful, loose fill play surface that is great fun, and makes your child’s play area, a safe and fun place to be. With its bouncy feel, the kids will love the added benefit that they can play all year round, without a care about the weather. Re-Bound Rubber Chippings are quick drying, and unlike play bark or wood chip will not rot away, maintaining its effectiveness as a play surface, and remaining a colourful and safe, fun place for the kids to play.
WHAT IS IT?
Made using recycled car tyres, which goes through our state of the art process to remove all the wire, then coloured using non toxic colourants, Re-Bound Rubber Chippings are tested and complies with British and European Safety Standards as a loose fill play surface.
HOW TO LAY IT
First, decide where you want to lay the product, create an edging, treat the ground with a weed killer, to kill any weeds or grass, and then lay over a membrane. Then dependant on the heights of any possible falls, lay the Re-Bound Rubber Chippings on top of the membrane to the desired depth, normally, a depth of 10cm would be sufficient for most play equipment (protection for up to 1.9m).

How much Re-Bound Rubber Chippings do I need?
Re-Bound Rubber Chippings if laid to a depth of 5cm (2”) can protect your child for a fall of up to 1.4 metres (4’6”). However, we recommend that you use at least 10cm (4”) is laid around the immediate area of the play equipment, this ensures there is always a good coverage in the busy areas. I've heard that loose fill rubber chippings require a lot of maintenance?
Not really, we would encourage you to rake the area over occasionally to ensure it looks tidy, and that the Re-Bound Rubber Chippings are spread evenly. You can even use a hand held blower to remove garden debris, such as dead leaves etc.
What are Re-Bound Rubber Chippings made of?
We make our Re-Bound Rubber Chippings from recycled car tyres and are guaranteed 100% wire free.
Are Re-Bound Rubber Chippings expensive?
Compared to wood bark, the initial costs are higher, but unlike wood bark or wood chip, Re-Bound Rubber Chippings will not require the regular maintenance, and top ups that are needed to ensure wood bark keeps its effectiveness as a safe play surface. Re-Bound Rubber Chippings become the cheaper option after a couple of years.
Are Re-Bound Rubber Chippings safe?
Re-Bound Rubber Chippings are one of the best quality safety play surfaces available, giving excellent fall height protection, complying with the British and European Standards, BS EN 17 (part 3), and BS EN 1177, for use as a loose fill safety surface. The coatings for our Rubber Chippings are non-toxic, and if swallowed by accident, would pass through the digestive system, with no ill effects.
How long will it last?
As Re-Bound Rubber Chippings are made from recycled car tyres they will last for up to 50 years.
Can Re-Bound Rubber Chippings stain my childrens clothing?
No, our colour coating do not wash off and unlike organic wood bark etc, materials will not stain clothing.
Does it freeze?
Re-Bound Rubber Chippings do not freeze, because it is hydrophobic, does not retain any water at all, therefore, your play area remains useable in all but the most severe weather conditions.
Will it attract insects?
Re-Bound Rubber Chippings can not sustain insect life, therefore, no animals or birds will be scratching around the area looking for a free meal!
